Celebrating Young Carers in Tees Valley
Young carers are children and young people who provide unpaid care for a family member. This could be due to physical illness, mental illness, disability or substance abuse.
Children as young as five years old are supporting their family members with household tasks, looking after siblings, providing personal care and supporting family members emotional wellbeing. All whilst trying to maintain friendships, schoolwork and look after their own wellbeing.
Many Young Carers proud to care for their loved ones, they're often resilient and independent, plus a greater sense of empathy than other children their own age. However, caring can also be isolating, tiring and mean Young Carers have less chance to experience childhood in the same way their peers do - without responsibility.
Join us at the charming Wainstones Hotel as we celebrate these often invisible heroes while raising funds to support young carers.
Enjoy a delicious buffet with tea and coffee, hear from young carers past and present and their families across Tees Valley as they share their experiences, and find out how The Junction is supporting young carers and making a real difference ❤️
