Step Up for Young Carers
Young carers in the Tees Valley spend an average of 25 hours each week looking after a loved one - on top of school, homework, and everyday life. For some it’s much more than that.
Being a young carer can mean helping with:
-Household tasks
-Managing medication
-Personal care
-Providing emotional support
-Looking after siblings
-Attending appointments or translating
While many young carers are proud of the help they give, caring responsibilities can sometimes impact friendships, school, their emotional wellbeing and time to relax and just be a child.
Young Carers step up to their responsibilities every day. This June, we’re asking you to Step-Up for Young Carers.
Take on one of our meaningful challenges:
100 Miles in June – walk, jog or run the distance in your own time
A Mile a Day – walk, jog or run a mile each day and walk in their shoes
Team Challenge - join forces with colleagues or friends and walk, jog or run 250 miles between you
Every mile you move helps The Junction provide breaks, respite, activities, peer support, and emotional guidance for young carers who give so much of themselves.
