The Junction Foundation Wins Charity of the Year at North East Charity Awards

We are thrilled to announce that The Junction Foundation has been named Charity of the Year at the prestigious North East Charity Awards, held at The Fed in Gateshead. This remarkable recognition celebrates the tireless work of our team in supporting children, young people, and families across Tees Valley.

The award is the biggest prize of the evening and a true honour, especially given the incredible calibre of charities represented. The Junction Foundation stood alongside organisations doing vital work across the region, including our valued partners Feeding Families, with whom we collaborate to distribute food boxes to families in need.

Beth Major, Chief Executive of The Junction Foundation, shared her thoughts on the win:

“It’s overwhelming when I look at the people we were in the same category with. We work in partnership with Feeding Families, for example, to distribute food boxes to families across the Tees Valley – we highly respect their work. When you look at the charities that were represented at the awards this evening, you can think, ‘There’s amazing things going on in the North East.’ So it’s totally unexpected to have won Charity of the Year. When I look at my tenure as Chief Executive, we’ve made an awful lot of progress as a charity in addressing our mission – which is that no child, young person or family should struggle alone. There’s still lots of work to do, but it’s fantastic for The Junction to have this recognition.”

This award comes at a time of exciting growth for The Junction Foundation.Follwoing the partnership with internet giant Amazon to launch a multi-bank initiative, offering a wide range of essential items to people in need across our community. This new venture reflects our ongoing commitment to practical, compassionate support for those facing hardship.

Beth stated “We’re incredibly proud of our team, our partners, and our community. This award belongs to everyone who has supported our mission and helped us make a difference. Thank you for believing in us. Together, we’ll keep building a brighter future for Tees Valley”.
